Does the speed test use my data?
Yes. To measure your connection it downloads and uploads test data, so it uses some of your data allowance. On a mobile connection, keep that in mind before running it many times.
Why do my results change between tests?
Speed depends on your network at that moment — how busy your Wi-Fi or mobile network is, what else is using the connection, and the device you are testing on. Running the test again a minute later can give a different result.
